Steven Spielberg uses a technique to introduce a character, the technique is showing parts of his body doing actions. Like the legs of Indiana Jones or the hands of Oscar Schindler.

Why does he do this?,
Because it will add drama to the character without even know who he is.

It’s the same idea for Oscar Schindler.
